A coverlet is a lightweight bedspread that is sometimes quilted and sometimes woven. Coverlets are generally considered only as decoration and are placed over the general bedding on a bed. They can also be used as throws on a bed or a couch. Quilted coverlets are very thin and have a thin layer of batting.
