RUFFLED bed skirts are gathered and sewn to the platform at a 2.5:1 ratio, and will tend to flare outward slightly to provide a good sense of depth. This style is especially suited to bed skirts made of satin or percale solids, which benefit from the optical treats of shadow and contour.

BOX-PLEATED bed skirts are made of straight pleats, usually three or four inches in width. This bed skirt is a popular style in for use in non-floral patterns, or those that benefit from a crisp delineation and a structured layout.

TAILORED bed skirts are difficult to describe. Each side of the bed skirt is composed of two flaps, pleated at the corners, with an extra pleat in the center. This style lends itself well to non-geometric patterns, such as florals, which benefit from the lack of interruption in the complex pattern.
