Mattress Warranty

Non-Prorated Limited Warranty and Care Instructions:

Cranium Furniture, Inc. warranties its mattresses and box springs to the original consumer purchaser for a non pro-rated period of ten years from the date of purchase against material defects and workmanship. Pillowtop pads are warranted for a non pro-rated period of 5 years when used with a Cranium Furniture mattress. Warranties protect your purchase from defects in manufacturing – not from damage caused by use or normal wear and tear.

At Cranium’s option, the warranted item will be repaired or replaced. Cranium Furniture, Inc. reserves the right to substitute material of equal quality. Repair or replacement does not extend the original period of limited warranty, nor does it constitute the beginning of a new limited warranty period.

If you have a claim before the end of the Limited Warranty period due to a defect covered under this warranty, Cranium will repair or replace, at our sole discretion, the defective product in a reasonable period of time. Cranium reserves the right to replace the failed product with a product of equal or higher value, and does not guarantee an exact match to your current sleep set.

All transportation charges and packaging are the responsibility of the consumer. For easy identification, do not remove the white law labels or the product name labels. A copy of the original sales receipt must be submitted with the Warranty Service Claim Form. Your warranty will not be processed without proof of purchase. Please make sure you have your sales receipt available when filling out the warranty service claim form. Customer is responsible for providing copy of sales receipt. Customer shall also include proof of “proper care” precautions. All Cranium Furniture mattresses are required to have mattress encasements and mattress pad. Copy of sale receipt for mattress encasement and mattress pad must be dated prior to or on the date of receipt of mattress. Any claim submitted without proof of purchase and proof of “proper care” precautions, will be void.

Proper care instructions:

For optimum use and longevity, turn mattress head to foot once per month, flip it over the next month (if reversible). Only use handles minimally when positioning mattress on box spring. Do not carry the mattress with the handles. Use a mattress pad for sanitary protection of mattress and pillowtop pad. Use mattress encasement to protect entire mattress from skin sheading, bodily fluids, spills, sweat, wear and tear, premature material breakdown. Mattress pad and encasement will extend the life of the mattress. Even though Cranium utilizes the most resilient materials available, Round Mattresses, standard mattresses and/or pillowtop pads with quilted surfaces may break in unevenly as two people sleep on either side of the middle 4 - 8 inches of the mattress. The result may appear as a small hump in the middle. We recommend laying in the middle of the mattress some of the time, especially when the materials are new. The materials will break in more evenly, resulting in a more consistently level sleeping surface. Carry your mattress flat on its side, this makes it easier to handle and prevents damage. Keep your mattress sanitary by using a mattress pad, especially if children use the bed.

Things to Avoid:

Do NOT bend, stand on, jump on, use dry cleaning chemicals on, or allow any liquids on your mattress. Avoid placing a board between your mattress and foundation. Do NOT destroy the law tag label as it MUST be retained for warranty coverage.

Warranty Excludes:
  • Mattress(s) purchased without the appropriate matching new box spring when said mattress is used on another box spring that the customer may already have.
  • Firmness preference of the mattress.
  • Normal body impressions of up to 2" in the padding material.
  • Handles or grommets pulling out. Handles are meant to minimally assist in positioning the mattress on the box spring. Pulling too hard on the handles can cause the border fabric to tear, as well as damage the spring unit.
  • Warranty will be voided for obvious abuse, support, or improper care/maintenance
  • Improper center support. Standard, custom mattresses and box springs must be supported by a sturdy center rail that will prevent the mattress from caving in
  • Inadequate turning of the mattress. According to the mattress industry, for optimum comfort and mattress life span the mattress should be rotated either head to foot, or turned over once a month (if mattress is reversible).
  • Broken box spring bases or bent mattress innerspring border wires, folding the innerspring mattress in half, or even significantly bending it can damage the mattress beyond repair. Movers are notorious for bending mattresses in half. Remind movers to be very careful not to bend your mattress more than just a little.
  • Burns, soils, or stains. We cannot repair a mattress if it is returned in unsanitary condition. Stains void the warranty based on warranty guidelines.
  • Excessive body weight.
  • “Not liking the mattress”
  • No guaranteed “comfort” +3 years from purchase
  • Damage caused by jumping on the mattress or damage caused by moving.
  • Mattress size discrepancies of up to plus or minus 1 inch
  • Mattress purchased not with a Cranium round bed platform and base. Round bed platform is made to support custom round mattresses.
  • Normal wear and tear due to use or damage due to misuse – such as the border wire becoming twisted from bending or folding the mattress.
  • Normal body indentations or sagging (not associated with sag in foundation) of less than 1½" for Latex or Innerspring mattresses, or less than 3/4" for Memory Foam mattresses, IS NOT COVERED. If it is determined that an indentation is caused by misuse, abuse or factors other than a product defect, this warranty will not cover that condition.
  • Any product found to be in an Unreasonably Unsanitary Condition, meaning the product is so pervasively soiled that 1) an inspector is unable to conduct an appropriate inspection of the condition of the product without being exposed to potentially dangerous bodily fluids, blood borne pathogens, or other substances that could cause significant injury or 2) otherwise suggest that the product has been subjected to misuse well beyond ordinary wear and tear, IS NOT COVERED under this warranty.
